A Winter Warmer: Naturally Sweet Cinnamon Apple Tea

On cold winter days, nothing warms the body and soul like a fragrant hot beverage. This cinnamon apple tea, a fusion of Eastern and Western culinary wisdom, is not only easy to make but will warm you from the inside out.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

1 high-quality cinnamon stick (approximately 5 cm long)

1 fresh apple (Fuji or Red Fuji apple recommended)

1 black tea bag (or 3 grams of loose black tea)

600 ml water

Step1. Cinnamon Extract

Pour 600 ml of water into a small pot and add the whole cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 10 minutes to allow the cinnamon's aromatic compounds to fully release into the water. This step is crucial to the entire tea, as it allows the volatile oils in the cinnamon to dissolve.

Step2. A Sweet Apple Encounter

While waiting for the cinnamon to cook, wash the apples and thinly slice them, skin on (leaving the skin adds nutrients and color). Add the apple slices to the cinnamon water and continue simmering over low heat for 5 minutes.
